Waltz for All
WITH LUDWIG REITER AT THE VIENNA OPERA BALL 2019
This year, Ludwig Reiter is proud to be an official partner of the Viennese Opera Ball. The Viennese company will gift 2,700 leather shoe horns to all gentleman attending the ball, and offers this year`s debutants exclusive conditions when purchasing elegant, Goodyear welted, Ludwig Reiter evening shoes to wear for the opening.
The leather shoe horns, decorated with the Vienna Opera Ball logo on one side and the Ludwig Reiter logo on the other, are an essential accessory when slipping elegantly and with ease into a pair of shoes. The shoehorn is crafted from fine French calf leather.
As every year at the Vienna Opera Ball, the dress code for male debutants is white tie. Of course the shoes must be just as much en pointe. To facilitate this, Ludwig Reiter offers male debutants an exclusive price when purchasing a pair of Goodyear welted, patent leather evening shoes. The black patent leather model “Erzherzog Johann” is Goodyear welted onto a Tuscan last, with the inner lining of black leather and a leather sole.
Since the tailcoat, which is common today, was created as street clothing at the beginning of the 19th century, the tailcoat shoe has undergone several developments. First they wore bootees, then to the festive tailcoat they wore shoes similar to slippers and later a kind of ballerina with a mesh bow. Since the 1950’s, today's model has become established - plain, black and without decoration. Today's tailcoat shoes often consist of easy-care, beautifully polished "patent leather". Essential for nimble feet on the parquet is the leather sole and a welted floor construction that ensures that the feet do not tire until the early hours.
The Ludwig Reiter Shoe Manufactory was founded in 1885 in Vienna. More than 130 years later, the family-owned business is run in the 4th and 5th generation. The Viennese manufactory is world renown especially for its Goodyear-welted shoes, but also produces trainers, bags, and many other accessories. The manufactory cooperates with numerous international design and fashion houses. The credo at Ludwig Reiter’s core is not only the love of craftmanship and quality, but also the future of tradition.
