Water finds its own level

By the river’s edge, time slows, and Christian Pöttler reflects on the rhythm of a life well lived. Like Smetana’s Moldau, the river’s journey mirrors our own: full of energy, detours, stillness, and quiet purpose.

In the Mürz region, water is more than scenery – it’s a resource and a lifeline. It sustains organic fish farms, shapes the land, and underpins a rural model built on longevity and care. It’s also a reminder: to build something lasting, you need patience, respect for materials, and a sense of flow.

Christian Pöttler has never been one to shy away from a good story. The Mürz region is his family home – the backdrop to childhood summers and slow afternoons. It’s also where he embarked on a different kind of publishing venture: one measured in timber beams, muddy boots, and the occasional runaway sheep. It wasn’t always easy, but over time, a new kind of chapter took shape – sustainable, rooted, and open to all who come seeking a little peace.

On his feet: the Norweger in Scotch Grain. Handmade, enduring, and built with the same values that guide the land around him – quality over quantity, tradition over trend, and time as the greatest measure of all.
